The SPSD takes a standards based approach to scenario data and the API for accessing it - use of these standards is referred to in more detail elsewhere in the knowledgebase and links to the standards used can be found below. ### Scenario Definition Scenarios definitions in SPSD are represented using the [Scenario Definition Language (SDL)](/v1/docs/sdl) developed by [WMG](https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/wmg/research/cav/vandv/) and ASAM OpenSCENARIO and OpenDRIVE as a standard way of defining scenarios. ### Scenario Tagging Tagging provides for an efficient method of cataloging scenarios which is independent of the scenario definition language used. SPSD now uses internationally recognised tagging taxonomies, including: - **ISO 34503** - **BSI PAS 1883:2025 – Operational Design Domain (ODD) Taxonomy** - **BSI 1891 – Behaviour Taxonomy** - **ASAM OpenLabel**, which provides a structured tagging ontology compatible across systems. This standards-based tagging approach ensures that scenarios remain interoperable, searchable, and reusable across diverse platforms and workflows. The full ontology used for tagging scenarios in Safety Pool can be downloaded from [here](https://live.safetypooldb.ai/api/ontologies/v1.6). ### Scenario File Format SPSD provides compatibility in exchanging scenarios with other systems through the use of the [ASAM OpenLabel](https://www.asam.net/project-detail/asam-openlabel-v100/) file format. This format is used when downloading scenarios from the database either manually or via the API.
